To provide effective educational staffing solutions that create and support productive learning environments for students in K-12 schools.
We assist in the development and training of passionate, capable students—equipping them with the skills to read, interpret, create, problem-solve, and perform in both academic and artistic disciplines. We believe that when students are encouraged to express themselves and apply discipline across subjects, they gain the confidence and competence needed to achieve measurable success in school—and beyond.

What we do.
We’ve got you covered.
The EC Team provides classroom coverage during emergencies and staffing challenges, like scheduling and shortages.
We accommodate single or emergency, short term and long term requests for public, private and charter schools.
Schools and districts experience staff shortages for many reasons. Our qualified guest teachers provide flexible, on demand staffing solutions for schools and districts that need additional coverage on Mondays/Fridays, during popular vacation months, to cover PTO, on PD days and absences due to seasonal illnesses. Schools and districts only pay for covered days with no additional service fees.

Founded in 2015 by classically trained musician and certified educator Damon DeBose, The Essential Curriculum Team (EC) began with a mission to strengthen Fine and Performing Arts programs in schools. Today, that mission has expanded to include comprehensive academic support across all subject areas—while maintaining the creative, student-centered spirit that set us apart from the beginning.
From public to private and charter schools across metropolitan Detroit, the EC Team has developed and implemented programs that integrate academic excellence with creativity, discipline, and student empowerment.
